Armadillo Restaurant
The setting alone will take your breath away. Situated at the northernmost tip of the island, it is worth the long and windy drive to enjoy lunch under the shady terrace. The flowering vines frame your view of lush hills that drop down to the glistening Caribbean Sea. Good friends of the Garbutts, Andrea Nyack and Bernie Huss are the perfect duo to run this idyllic fine-dining pursuit. Bernie helms the kitchen, whilst Andrea hosts and runs the guesthouse. Grenada’s rich bounty drives their menu due to their special relationships with nearby fishermen and planters. They also make syrups, jams, and pickles from the fruit in their garden, including vanilla. The menu changes frequently due to hyper-seasonality, expect fresh tuna tataki & lionfish ceviche to rich callaloo lentils. Ensure to leave room for Andrea’s desserts, they deserve their own sitting, as she perfectly balances sweet & sour, accurately encompassing the taste of Grenada.

Crayfish Bay Cocoa Estate & Chocolate Makers
For the craft chocolate die-hards, this is your Mecca. Here, you will truly understand the meaning of tree-to-bar chocolate. Located in the rural northwest corner of Grenada, Kim & Lylette have lovingly restored an abandoned cocoa estate on a shoestring. Over time they became fully organic and hand built their own bean-to-bar chocolate factory. Their values are rooted in collaboration, everyone involved in the process is compensated their rightful share, and in doing so have built a micro-community on their doorstep. Ensure to include this as a pitstop on your travels, not only to stock up on high-quality chocolate but to gain an immense appreciation of the entire process.

Chocolate & Rum Tasting
Join us in-house at Calabash every Monday for Rum Tastings with Simon Green. Simon is an expert on Grenadian rums, having previously managed a rum estate on the island. Executive Chef Ramces runs Chocolate Tastings on Wednesdays for guests interested in understanding more about the island’s five chocolate makers. As well as learning how to taste chocolate, you’ll get a grasp of the unique nuances of Grenada’s internationally regarded fine-flavour cocoa.

Eat Like a Grenadian Experience.
There is nowhere else that captures the charm of Grenadian culture quite like the home of Kennedy Roberts. Located on the hilly outskirts of the capital town of St. George’s, Kennedy and his family have nurtured their thriving homestead, much of what they consume is freshly harvested from their own back garden paradise. Begin with a guided tour of their garden to learn the nutritional and medicinal benefits of the produce grown there before enjoying a ‘garden to table’ meal with the family. This is your opportunity to hone in on your roti-making skills with Kennedy himself and learn the delicacies of what makes Grenadian cuisine truly unique.

BB’s Crabback
A picturesque setting, located on the water’s edge of the Carenage of St. George, BB’s was started by Brain Benjamin when he moved back home to Grenada nearly fifteen years ago. This is the place to sample true Grenadian cuisine, particularly Oil Down, Grenada’s national dish. A one-pot stew made with plentiful spices including turmeric, breadfruit, a meat of your choice, dumplings, callaloo, seasoning and coconut milk. Other favourites include goat curry and of course, crabback, made with fresh crab meat tossed with the island’s pungent herbs and spices.

Laura’s Herb & Spice Garden
Hidden from the hustle and bustle of St. George’s, Laura’s garden is dedicated to all things spices including trees and herbs. Knowledgeable guides take you along the trail, embarking on a multi-sensory experience. You are encouraged to enjoy the smells and tastes of the spices and fruits in season. For every herb, plant and tree you come across, guides explain how they’re harvested, prepared and used in local dishes. A truly inspiring experience for all foodies alike that captures the essence of Grenada in its purest form.
